Aleph Quintet is a fusion group based in Brussels. Indeed, without imposing borders, the music of North Africa mixes with jazz improvisation, Gnawa rhythms and Sufi culture. What unites these 5 musicians is first of all the communicative energy of this music, and a great feeling of devotion to their collective so that each one can express the best of himself and transmit this passion directly to the public. For the past two years the quintet has given numerous concerts in Belgium, France and Tunisia. After a remarkable concert at the Cité de la Culture in Tunis during the 2019 Carthage Musical Days, the group was awarded the "Tanit d'Argent" and "Dar Eyquem" prizes by an international jury of producers, agents and programmers.

Over the years, Walt Disney’s movies and their music touched the hearts of entire generations and got engraved in our collective memory. Disney’s music was always greatly influenced by the period of time in which the films were made. Jazz was an inevitable source of inspiration. The movies and their music’s rich history inspired this Belgian jazz sextet to tackle the immortal Disney repertoire. They selected songs from 10 of Disney’s earlier masterpieces made between 1941 and 1989. They jazzed up the repertoire with the utmost respect for the original music, but gave it their own interpretation nonetheless. Jazz meets Disney or Disney meets Jazz?

Claude Braud (sax), Cesar pastre (piano), Patricia Lebeugle (bass), Stéphane Roger (drums)
This band was put together by drummer Stéphane Roger in 1989. Although during the 30 years of its existence, the band has undergone very few changes, other excellent musicians continue to officiate with Megaswing today. Their complicity, even perfect understanding, as well as the loyal friendship that unites them all adds an undeniable quality to their music that we have very often been able to appreciate in the best clubs in Paris such as the Jazz Café Montparnasse, the Jazz Club Etoile at the Hôtel Méridien, the "Jazz en mer" (TMR) cruises, without forgetting the mythical Caveau de la Huchette where they have been making lindy hoppers, jitterbuggers, swingers dance almost every Sunday for 30 years, without faltering! Their repertoire is a clever mix of Swing and Soul music, composed of standards (Gershwin, Richard Rodgers in particular) but also of songs that are played much less often.

The Shelly's Brothers were born under the initiative of trumpeter Aristide D'Agostino and
guitarist Alexis Nootens. Both came to realize after 5 years of passionate bromance, that they shared, in addition to friendship, a love for a forgotten jazz record. The latter, sometimes called "My Son The Jazz Drummer", sometimes called "Steps To The Desert" is an album by drummer Shelly Manne which pays homage to Jewish music. Indeed, the music consists of a West Coast/ Hard Bop adaptation of the magnificent Jewish musical folklore. Therefore, the two friends decided to pay tribute to this great album in it's entirety, surrounding themselves with the best jazz musicians of Brussels!

Bruce Ellison (vocals), Druss Lecomte (piano, vocals), Patrick Louis (guitar-vocals), Guillaume Durieux (bass, vocals)
Bruce Ellison began as a mime and voice-over for television, as well as in musical comedies in Indiana, USA. In 1986, after attending the Marcel Marceau International Mime School in Paris, Bruce founds the Mandragore Theatre Co. with Michel Carcan in Brussels. The troup creates the mimodrama, 'The Strange Mr. Knight', to international acclaim. Currently Bruce does voice work for radio, cinema, and children's tv programs. He is also the singer of rock group PPZ30. With The Jellodies, Bruce Ellison is certainly the best tribute to the wonderful Thomas « Fats » Waller… Pat Louis (guitar/vocals) is the "missing link" between blues and jazz with a style marked by Freddie Green, Tiny Grimes, and legendary electric guitar pioneer Charlie Christian ; Druss Lecomte (piano/vocals) has a lively style that evokes Count Basie’s or Nat King Cole’s swing, Thomas “Fats” Waller’s and James P. Johnson’s stride, all with a touch of humor reminiscent of Erroll Garner ; Guillaume Durieux (upright bass/vocals) is renowned for his high slap technique..
The Jellodies combines swing, jive, hot jazz and rhythm ‘n blues, with a line-up similar to Cole’s trio, Basie’s rhythm section, or Willie Dixon’s Big Three Trio. If you want to hear real hot jazz and swing the way it was played in the 30's and 40's, this band is what it's all about! Come and discover their unique groove! The alchemy which rises from the meeting between Bruce Ellison and The Jellodies is absolutely magic..!

Emily Allison (vocals,), Guillaume Vierset (guitar), Nicolas Kummert (sax), Dorian Dumont (piano, keys), Boris Schmidt (bass), Paul Berne (drums)
'Songs of Old' introduces a quirky cast of fugitives from folk tales, nursery rhymes and nonsense verse, almost all children of the imagination of writers with a subtle, very British blend of whimsy and poetry. Brought to you by the Franco-British jazz singer Emily Allison, this extraordinary album transports the listener to an imaginary world where everything and anything is possible. After working alongside famous names on the international jazz scene (duo with David Linx on LIFT's album 'First Floor', guest vocalist on Diederik Wissels' 'Pasarela') Emily now leads her own group.
This hybrid formation of classical and jazz instruments both supports and draws inspiration from the storyteller/vocalist, who in turn feeds off the energy the musicians provide. Despite its harmonic com- plexity, technical virtuosity and refusal to compromise on melody, the music never for a moment loses sight of the underlying playfulness of the lyrics. For the listener, the experience is inspiring, sometimes unsettling, but ultimately reassuring; we cannot fail to be moved by the timeless folk wisdom of the lyrics.

Forty years ago, Mike Mainieri, Michael Brecker, Don Grolnick, Eddie Gomez and Peter Erskine began an anthological adventure whose discography would change the history of jazz-fusion: Steps Ahead. Through the marriage of vibraphone/piano/saxophone, an unparalleled rhythmic complicity and a resolutely lyrical writing, these precursors laid the foundations of a genre that met with many followers over the next three decades. Today, five internationally renowned Belgian jazzmen have decided to pay tribute to them. Each of them has had an impressive career and has performed at the biggest festivals as a leader or with artists such as Toots Thielemans, Tom Harrell, Chaka Khan, Manu Katché, Claude Nougaro, Richard Galliano or Joe Lovano... All in love with the mythical quintet, they revisit it with an intact freshness!

Fabrice Mukuna (sax, vocals), Gonzalo Rodriguez (guitar), Ben Tequi (drums), David Ramos (piano), Leonid Munoz (percussions), Humberto Gonzalez (bass)
The music of Fabrice Mukuna evokes an almost folkloristic atmosphere that is reminiscent of his home village, its Luba-tongue and the land of Kasaï. The whole is infused with a more contemporary Western and jazz-like touch. His band reflects the multicultural aspects of his music. Through this compelling whole of colourful harmonies and powerful Afro Latino rhythmic cadenses, interaction with the public is also generously nourished and emphasized.
A superb voyage ahead! The band is among the winners of the Matonge Sounds contest and played in Bozar for the Independence Day of Congo.
Definitely not to be missed!
