Steve Houben (sax), Urs Dubicki (sax), Jacques Pirotton (guitar), Victor Foulon (bass), Mimi Verderame (drums)

Far from wanting to make a strict copy, we endeavored to capture through spirit, shape and groove the incredible music these two jazz stars have conceived, created and played on the West Coast in the 50s and 60s. Family member and celebrity saxophonist Jacques Pelzer introduces Steve Houben to jazz. Back from the Berklee College of Music in Boston he creates, with Henri POUSSEUR, the Jazz Seminar at the Liège Conservatory, one of the first jazz courses in Europe. In the course of his career, Steve has accumulated the most diverse musical experiments and experiences, becoming a mainstay of today’s music in Europe. in 2000, he received the Django d'or (Belgium). As a jazz playerfrom the most orthodox bop to the most electric fusion, as a composer for cinema, television and theatre. He played with some legendary names like Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Clark Terry, Joe Newman, Lee Konitz, Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine…During several years, he was in charge of the saxophone class at the jazz department of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and he was director at the Royal Conservatory of Liège (2012-2015). Steve Houben, an open, cultivated and curious mind, has approached many musical contexts and styles (jazz, fusion, classical music, world music,...) with considerable talent and conviction. He is our top jazz sax ambassador. Do not miss him, in the company of a top rhythm section.
