KIND OF BLUE TRIBUTE

Gino Lattuca (Tp), Michel Mainil (Ts), Thomas Champagne (As), Eve Beuvens (Pno), Nicola Lancerotti (Cb), Bruno Castellucci (Dms)

On August the 17th 1959, trumpeter Miles Davis published the album “Kind of Blue”. This record is still considered as the most important work of Miles Davis.  Best-selling jazz album, first Jazz Gold Record, “Kind of Blue” is recognized as the most influential album of the whole jazz history.  As usual, Miles had the sagacity to propose this album at the right moment. On the one hand, a generation of musicians didn’t want to sideline tradition and, on the other, a group of vanguard creators tried to open new doors.  Miles Davis, supported by his peers, opened a new approach, the modal jazz. Forty years after his record, this album is considered as a turning point in jazz history, a way of moving away from dense compositions, coming back to the melody ...The project of (re)presenting “Kind of Blue” was born out of the meeting and desire of 6 musicians to recreate in their way the essence of this legendary album. The pleasure of playing together music that didn’t lose its  freshness and creativity.

THOMAS DELOR TRIO

Simon Martineau (guitar),  Georges Correia (doublebass), Thomas Delor (drums, compositions)

Few drummers assume the role of leader and composer. With rare exceptions, the results often sacrifice the fine details of harmonic and melodic development in favor of complex time signatures and tempo changes: the trio of French musician Thomas Delor, accompanied by Simon Martineau on guitar and George Correia on bass, radically breaks the rule. Thomas Delor managed to make his trio sound as a unique group, with an unusual language, inimitable nuances and a creativity both subtle and explosive at the same time. His compositions, his arrangements and the interpretations follow a similar treatment, identifiable from the first note, based on the exploration of his instrument which seems to be limitless, turning him into a delicate blend of rhythmist melodist colorist. The trio released in september 2018 "The Swaggerer" on the label Fresh Sound New Talent, album praised by the international press (awarded « Album Revelation » by Jazz Magazine, « Hit » by Couleurs Jazz, etc…).

Joachim Caffonnette trio

Dans le cadre du Jazz Tour, Une coproduction The Music Village et Les Lundis d’Hortense

Joachim Caffonnette met double bass player Alex Gilson, freshly arrived in Brussels.

Together, they did several gigs in trio with local drummers, having fun on jazz standards.

They decided to organise a mini tour in Belgium and Eastern France. Gilson called Paris-based drummer, Jean-Baptiste Pinet for the gigs. After the first notes, it appeared that the connection between the three musicians was almost telepathic,

consolidated by a common vision of the interplay. Since then, they have been touring in Europe, mixing standards with Caffonnette’s originals and some pop-rock cover arranged by the band leader. Good moments ahead !
