INTRO
Jazz singing is probably the most seductive access to jazz in general and attracts all kinds of public.

Brussels Jazz Club «The Music Village»
has programmed numerous jazz singers since its beginning and thus gained the respect for this genre of both artists and public.

In 2005, the “first brussels international young jazz singers competition” was an event imagined and created by the Club.

This time, The Music Village presents
“THE BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL
YOUNG JAZZ SINGERS COMPETITION 2007”

For its contribution to the attraction of the Région bruxelloise and to the artistic and tourist life of Brussels, this project has received the support of the REGION BRUXELLOISE

The Brussels International
Young Jazz Singers Competition

For young jazz singers, contrary to young classical singers,
there exist only very few competitions in the world.
It is the BYSC’s ambition to obtain a place in this artistic sector and to contribute to the popularity of jazz with a young public, and to the cultural attraction of the Region.
To this end a professional, recurrent quality competition is organized.
The first edition took place in 2005.

The Music Village is happy to present the second edition of itsBrussels International Young Jazz Singers Competition
Music being a universal means of communication without any frontiers and Brussels a multicultural European and world city, it certainly seems a good idea to have this competition take place here.

The Competition

The competition is held from
Wednesday 3 tot Sunday 7 October 2007.

The invitation to participate is sent out from JUNE 2007 all over the world.
Any jazz singer, male or female, professional or not, born after 1 October 1972 can apply for participation.

A pre-selection of candidates on the basis of a dossier and a recording will be done by the Jury. By the middle of August the Jury will determine a list of
12 singers, who will be invited to the semi final concerts in Brussels in OCTOBER 2007.

Four semi-final sessions take place with audience in the Music Village Jazz Club, from Wednesday 3 tot Saturday 6 October 2007.

At the end of these sessions, the Jury will select 3 finalists, who will compete for the three prizes at the final gala concert in a large venue in Brussels on Sunday 7 October 2007.

The Jury

The Jury will be composed of personalities of different jazz trends and generations, who have shown their quality, talent and power of judgement.

A good jury composition makes the competition results more credible, shows due respect to the artists and assures them the necessary visibility for their further career.
